Cari's 16th Birthday!

Carolyn, as she likes to be called nowadays (although she'll probably always be Cari to me), celebrated 16 years of life this past weekend.

The original plan had been for an outside party with a bonfire and such, but it rained every day last week and poured on Friday, so that was out of the question.  We planned ahead and cleared out the dining room (which we are using for storage right now), and she and Matthew and Amelia cleaned up and decorated the basement.

She put in a special request for an Avengers birthday balloon

Pool and ping pong

She and her BFF Melissa had the idea to set up a photo booth in the basement as well, and I think that was one of the highlights of the evening.

We enjoyed hotdogs with chili and slaw along with chocolate and vanilla cupcakes and her favorite cake, Red Velvet, which my dad whipped up for her.  He's the resident birthday cake expert around here.

Cousin Jenny, Madison, Aunt Jane, and Skylar - quick shot while they were waiting in line to eat

She's been super excited about turning 16 but it will still be a little while before she gets her license.  Needs a bit more practice and got a late start on Joshua's Law.....

Cari is a great party planner, and I think it was a fun night for everyone.  And what better wait to celebrate than with your family and your closest friends!

Happy 16th!
